The first trailer for CBS’ modern day, New York set Sherlock Holmes adaptation ‘Elementary’, starring Benedict Cumberbatch’s Frankenstein co-star Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes, and Lucy Liu as Joan Watson.
So…. thoughts everyone?
Ok, I just want to say, I like the idea of a female Watson. I really do..but I’m not too sure if this is the best way to do that. Granted its only under 5 mins so there’s a lot that we’re missing but if this is the way that they are going….I may not like it very much. I’ll watch the first episode but I already have mixed feelings about it.
The chemistry between Holmes and Joan isn’t companionship (from what I can tell) its more like she’s starting to like him. Holmes even had his shirt off, I can’t really imagine BBC’s Sherlock to do that. We would love the hell out if it but its because Godtiss knows how to make it work but you can be an “outcast” without doing the stereotypical things of just doing odd things.
Before I ramble here’s what I’ve seen:
- the chemistry (that I’ve seen) just seems off
- the story’s odd
- Watson was squeamish in front of dead bodies (major beef with that)
- Watson doesn’t seem like a “strong” character (almost like she’s there to be a pretty face)
- Holmes personality was off (him saying sorry and that he sometimes hates being right)
But I will watch the first ep, but like I said, already not liking it from the start.
